Melvin Johnson Makes Transfer Decision

With quality transfers being added to the Roadrunners Men's Basketball squad for the 2012 season, UTSA had to cut ties with a recent big face of the program. Character issues may have played a role in Melvin Johnson III being cut by the team following his junior campaign. Melvin was on pace to become the Roadrunners all time 3 points leader at some point during his senior season.

This just goes to show the direction that the Roadrunners are heading in the 2012 season. They are bringing in quality prospects and are looking to be competitive in the WAC for the 2012-2013 season. No spot on the team is secure as the Roadrunners enter the WAC for this season and Conference USA starting in 2013. Melvin has decided to transfer to Arkansas State for the fall of 2012. He will have to sit out for one season, but will have one year of eligibility left in 2013. Best of luck to Melvin as he finishes out his career!

Looks like we will have to wait for Keith Horne's 20 year 3 point record of 198 to be broken by a different Roadrunner in the future. Although, with the quality of recruits that will be headed to UTSA in the future, it may be sooner than we expect.
